Facebook is planning to roll out a revamped version of its desktop website before this spring.

This is the same redesign plan that was being talked about in April 2019 and it seems that the testing phase will take almost a year before the social media giant rolls the design out to everyone.

At present, the company has granted a few numbers of Facebook users with access to the revamped desktop site on an invite-only basis. In a statement given to CNET, the social media company has confirmed that the revamp will soon be rolled out to more users.

According to Facebook, the new design will give users a “fresh, simple Facebook” making it easier for them to do what they want.

The highlights of Facebook’s Desktop Redesign:

On the basis of examples that Facebook has provided, here are some of the key design changes that is expected to take place:

  • Cleaner design with 3 columns instead of 4
  • Facebook Stories to come at front and center
  • The navigation menu to change like that of Mobile app
  • Dark mode & light mode options for the users

Given below is a Facebook-provided rendering of the new design:

As the image shows, you can find how the new desktop site looks much like the current mobile app. As recorded through the accounts of all the users who have early access, it’s just a revamp of the user interface and that there will be no change in Facebook’s functionality on Desktop.
