In order to make it easier for searchers to buy popular products, the search giant Google is introducing a new shopping section in search results.

If the visitors are searching for keywords like “running shoes” or “down jackets”, in response Google will also show them a new section with popular products from stores across the web. As per the update, the new section will show up if the visitors are searching for clothes, shoes, and accessories.

There will also be filters available for the searchers and that they will be able to search by style, department, and size. Users will also be able to compare prices of the products from different brands as when they search for a product on Google, the search giant will show them a list of different sites where the products can be purchased from.

Not just that, searchers will also be able to read reviews for different products without leaving search results. However, as far as purchasing of the product is concerned they will have to visit the retailer’s site.

“To make this feature possible, Google indexes and organizes products from over a million online shops, and updates this information regularly. Just as we don’t charge sites to be part of the Google Search index, participating retailers appear in this new feature for free.”

If the merchants want their product to be shown in the new section, they will have to set up product feeds in Google Merchant Center and/or apply the fitting structured data markup to product pages.

As revealed by Google, merchants will be able to get organic traffic through the new feature. The tech giant is also working towards making the customer experience better for browsing and discovering new products and that further updates are expected to come very soon.
